About Holy Cross Lutheran Church
Who are the people of Holy Cross?
Holy Cross Lutheran Church is a community of forgiven sinners centered in Jesus' grace and presence among us. As a recent sermon reminded us, we are "perfectly imperfect creatures of God." We make mistakes. We have good days and we have bad days. We love, we laugh, and we cry. We live our lives together in the unconditional love of God in Jesus and we strive to live that out in our day to day lives.

We are a place of welcome, affirmation, and safety. We believe that all people are beloved by God, no matter their gender, ethnicity, marriage status, economic circumstances, sexual orientation, or general expression. Every child of God is welcome fully.

We are people of worship and praise. We gather for a time of celebration each Sunday, where we hear God's gracious promise, where we sing and pray, and where we gather around Jesus' Table in Communion, hear the promise, "Given and shed for you."

Through worship, we gather for joyous life events, such as baptisms and weddings, and for more somber experiences, as when we gather for funerals. In each case, we hope to be there for one another in mutual support and love. We are a faith family who tries to care for one another as Jesus has cared for us. We look to deepen our relationship with Jesus through education, conversation, worship, and service.

As a community, we seek to reach out to the larger community, sharing our gifts with others. We are supporters of the area homeless shelter (Embry Rucker) and the Food Bank (LINK) and are contributors to both their efforts. We host “Lunch for the Soul,” a partnership ministry with three other congregations that provides food and fellowship to our local day workers. We also support ministry in the larger world through the work of the Lutheran Disaster Relief and Lutheran World Relief.
