Baptism

As Lutherans, we believe that God connects with us in many ways, but has specifically promised to be especially present in two important ways, Baptism and Holy Communion. In these events, call Sacraments, God promises to be there for us in a saving way.

In Holy Baptism, God comes to us in love through ordinary water. In his Small Catechism, Martin Luther asked, "How can water do such things?" The answer is it is not water, but the gracious, loving, and affirming promise of Jesus. "When you do this in my name, I will be there for you." It is God's joyous welcome into the family and a public declaration, "I will be your God, and you will be my child."

Most often, Lutherans baptize babies but baptism can be done at any age. If you are interested in knowing more about baptism, or wish to know how to schedule a time for baptism, please feel free to contact the church office.
